Before we begin the process in Tesoro, it's important to make sure that IMAP is enabled in your Gmail account, which allows Tesoro to retrieve messages from your Gmail inbox.

Preparing Your Gmail Account for Integration


Step 1: Accessing the Settings
  1. Open your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner to access Quick Settings (See Image 1).
  3. Click on "See all settings" to open the full settings menu.

Step 2: Enabling IMAP

  1. Inside the full settings menu, click on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab (See Image 2).
  2. In the "IMAP Access" section, make sure "Status: IMAP is enabled" is selected.
  3. If not, select "Enable IMAP".
  4. Adjust the settings for when a message is marked as deleted and expunged according to your preference.

Step 3: Adjusting SMTP and Other Settings

  1. While still in the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab, scroll down to find the instructions for configuring your email client (See Image 3).
  2. Click on "Configuration instructions" and follow the specific guidance for setting up SMTP, which is necessary for sending emails.

Additional Steps for Email Client Configuration:

  1. Step 1: Setting up IMAP in Tesoro

    1. Navigate to the "Email" section under "Settings" in your Tesoro dashboard.
    2. Under "IMAP Settings":
      • For "Host", enter imap.gmail.com.
      • For "Port", select 993 from the dropdown.
      • "Username" is your full Gmail address.
      • "Password" is your Gmail password (if you have 2-Step Verification enabled on your Gmail account, you might need to use an App Password).
    3. Click "Save" to apply these settings.

  3. Step 2: Setting up SMTP in Tesoro

    1. Still under the "Email" section in your Tesoro settings, move to "SMTP Settings":
      • For "Host", enter smtp.gmail.com.
      • For "Encryption", select SSL or TLS from the dropdown, depending on your security preference (SSL is commonly used with port 465, and TLS with port 587).
      • For "Port", enter 465 for SSL or 587 for TLS.
      • "Username" again is your full Gmail address.
      • "Password" is the same as for the IMAP settings; your Gmail password.
    2. Click "Save" to apply the SMTP settings.

    After configuring both IMAP and SMTP settings, it's crucial to test the integration by sending a test email from Tesoro and checking if you can receive emails in Tesoro from Gmail.
